SAP Business One from a CFO perspective — faster close, clean figures, audit reliability.

You stretch the month-end close as far as it goes because accruals sit in spreadsheets and the payroll interface acts up again? Let's change that. SAP Business One plus the right extensions turns manual work into automation.

The five pain points of finance leadership in mid-sized companies

We speak with finance leaders from distribution and services regularly. It is almost always the same five topics that stretch out the month-end close.

Accruals are manual work

Every month-end close you rebuild the accruals by hand in a spreadsheet. Error-prone, time-consuming, not audit-proof.

Payroll interfaces are brittle

Payroll runs in an external system. A CSV export here, a manual reposting there. Every change in an employee's tax situation becomes an adventure.

Intercompany is a nightmare

Several entities, each with its own bookkeeping, reconciled manually every month. That does not scale as the group grows.

Recurring invoices cause errors

Subscription models, maintenance contracts and licences with different terms and accruals — no fun in a spreadsheet, and certainly not audit-proof.

Project profitability stays unclear

For service providers: costs and revenues per project are not properly matched. You know after the project whether it paid off — not while it runs.

What SAP Business One delivers for a CFO role

Faster month-end close

Integrated accounting instead of system boundaries. No more merging figures from three tools.

Automated accruals

For subscriptions, maintenance and projects — automated audit-proof through AbgrenzungPro.

Native payroll

With PayrollPro directly inside SAP Business One, without broken interfaces to external payroll software.

Clean intercompany

Postings between several entities automated — multiple domestic companies and foreign subsidiaries included.

E-invoicing ready

Common electronic invoicing formats including Peppol, both inbound and outbound, set up for the countries you operate in.

Audit-proof by default

Document processing, journals and documentation designed to satisfy statutory bookkeeping requirements.

Three automations that take pressure off your month-end close

AbgrenzungPro

Automatic period accruals for subscriptions, maintenance and projects. One click instead of manual spreadsheet work. Documented audit-proof.

PayrollPro

Payroll directly inside SAP Business One, no more CSV bridges. For mid-sized companies that want accounting and payroll in one system.

Accounting as a Service

When capacity is missing or holiday periods need covering — we take over day-to-day accounting operations.

Step 1 / 3

What do inefficient processes cost you?

Step 1 of 3

Where are your biggest challenges right now?

Select all areas that apply.

What typically gets better

No invented percentages — three areas that measurably improve after the switch:

Month-end close gets shorter

Because manual accruals disappear and postings come from one system instead of three.

Audit reliability rises

Because postings run rule-based instead of by hand — traceable for auditors and tax advisors.

Fewer manual postings

Because automation covers the recurring cases. More time for controlling, less for clicking.

Typical questions from finance leaders

Is SAP Business One powerful enough for an experienced financial accountant?
Yes. SAP Business One is not simple accounting software but a complete ERP with statutory reporting, accounts receivable and payable, cost accounting and consolidation. An accountant with mid-market experience finds their way around it quickly.
How does it handle several legal entities?
Each legal entity is its own company database. Several domestic companies, foreign subsidiaries or cross-border setups can run in parallel. Consolidation works through a group chart of accounts or through HANA views.
Does SAP Business One support electronic invoicing?
Yes. SAP Business One handles the common e-invoicing formats and can both receive and issue them — including Peppol, which is the backbone of e-invoicing across most of Europe. Country-specific requirements are set up as part of the implementation.
How do accruals work for recurring invoices?
Fully automated with AbgrenzungPro. Without the add-on it is possible in principle, but manual and error-prone. For companies with many subscriptions or maintenance contracts, AbgrenzungPro is the decisive lever.
We have foreign or cross-border entities. Does that work cleanly?
Yes. Intercompany postings between several companies are standard. Danish entities are particularly well covered through our own ApS structure, and other countries are equally feasible.
Do we have to give up our tax advisor's software?
No. SAP Business One exports in the formats accountants expect. Your tax advisor receives the data the usual way — nothing changes for them.
